About Us

Introduction

The Women’s Safety and Justice Initiative (WSJI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where all women and girls can live, work, and thrive without fear of violence, discrimination, or injustice. Established in 2018, WSJI has emerged as a leading global advocate for advancing women’s rights and empowerment, with a focus on addressing the systemic challenges that undermine the safety, security, and equal participation of women in society.

At the core of WSJI’s mission is a deep commitment to challenging the deeply entrenched gender-based inequalities and harmful societal norms that continue to perpetuate violence, marginalization, and exclusion against women and girls. Through a multi-pronged approach encompassing legal reform, community-based prevention, economic empowerment, and inclusive representation, WSJI works tirelessly to dismantle the structural barriers that deny women and girls their fundamental human rights and dignity.

WSJI’s objectives are three-fold:

  1. To strengthen legal protections and improve justice system responses to gender-based violence and discrimination;
  2. To empower and mobilize local communities, especially women and girls, to develop and lead grassroots prevention and support initiatives;
  3. To advance the economic, political, and social inclusion of women, ensuring their meaningful participation in decision-making processes at all levels.

By working in close collaboration with a network of local, national, and global partners, WSJI leverages its expertise, resources, and advocacy platforms to amplify the voices of women human rights defenders and catalyze sustainable, systemic change. Through its holistic and intersectional approach, the organization is committed to fostering a world where women and girls can live free from fear, with equal access to justice, opportunity, and leadership.

Purpose

Through this multifaceted approach, the WSJI aims to drive transformative change and build a more equitable, just, and safe world for women and girls worldwide.

By addressing the root causes of gender-based violence and discrimination, the organization is poised to create sustainable, systemic impact that empowers women and girls to reach their full potential
